Shawn Freemore and Ian Seagraves arrested in murder of Michael Goucher

Two Arrested in Gay Vet's Murder
Michael Goucher, 21, an Army veteran missing since February 3, was found dead in a wooded area southeast of Scranton, Pennsylvania, on February 11, the victim of multiple stab wounds. Police arrested Shawn Freemore, 19, the same day, and Ian Seagraves, 17, on February 18. Both were charged with murder and had connections to a MySpace page devoted to gangs.

Freemore admitted to police that he killed Goucher, telling them they met online last month and had sex in the victim's car. When they met on February 3, he said Goucher tried to have sex with him and when he refused and left the car, Goucher pursued him and Freemore stabbed him about 20 times.

Goucher was active in the Zion United Church of Christ. "He helped with piano and organ, sang in the choir, played bells," said his "terribly shocked minister," Reverend Dr. William Ramsden. "Everybody loved him."

The victim's mother, Mary Anne Goucher of Moosic, Pennsylvania, said Freemore's story was "totally not true" and "so out of character," Out in America reported. "Mike was a trusting soul, a good kid. I believe this kid had planned from the start to rob Mike."
